Platforms
Five sources, always on. There is nothing to switch on. The settings here are about how much of each source you want.
BrandSonar scans:
- Reddit: posts and comments across every subreddit
- X: posts, with replies and retweets optional
- YouTube: videos and Shorts
- Hacker News: stories and comments
- Bluesky: posts and replies
All five are monitored for every brand, on every plan. There is no per-platform on/off switch. What a plan changes is how often each one is re-checked.
Per-platform settings
Settings → Platforms gives each source its own controls. They all default to sensible values; reach for them when one platform is producing more noise than the rest.
- X (Twitter)
- Include retweets is off by default, because a viral retweet otherwise arrives as hundreds of near-identical mentions. Include replies is on, since replies are where most conversation about a product happens.
- Bluesky
- Include replies is on by default.
- Hacker News
- Minimum points defaults to 0. Raise it to skip comments and stories nobody engaged with.
- Minimum upvotes, plus separate switches for posts and comments. Turning comments off is the single biggest volume reduction available anywhere in the product.
- YouTube
- Include Shorts is on by default.
How often each platform is scanned
Scan cadence is what separates the plans. On Plus, every platform is checked once a day. On Pro, Bluesky and Hacker News are checked hourly, X twice a day, and Reddit and YouTube daily.
Cadence is per platform rather than per keyword, so adding keywords does not slow anything down.
Competitors use the defaults
This page configures your own brand. Competitor monitors are scanned with the default settings for each platform. The parts you tune per competitor are its keywords and labels.
